When you book an appointment at Vaske Vision Care, we want you to feel confident knowing exactly what to expect. Whether you're coming in for a routine vision exam, dealing with an eye infection, or checking on conditions like diabetes or macular degeneration, our goal is to make your experience smooth and straightforward.
Here's a helpful guide to answer some of the most common questions we hear from our patients.
Insurance at Vaske Vision Care: What’s Covered?
One of the first questions many patients ask is, "Do you take my insurance?" The short answer is yes – but it depends on your visit's purpose and your specific plan.
At Vaske Vision Care, we accept a variety of medical insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna, for medical eye concerns such as:
- Red or painful eyes
- Eye injuries or infections
- Cataract evaluations
- High blood pressure or diabetes eye checks
- Macular degeneration monitoring
Routine vision exams, like getting a new prescription for glasses or contact lenses, require vision insurance (such as VSP or EyeMed). Some medical insurance plans, like those from UnitedHealthcare or Cigna, include separate vision coverage – but be aware that being in-network for medical care doesn’t always mean we’re in-network for vision exams.
Best advice? Call our office with your insurance information and the reason for your visit. Our team is happy to verify your coverage so you know exactly what’s covered before you arrive.
What’s Included in a Comprehensive Eye Exam?
Your eyes are a window to your overall health – and our eye exams are designed to give you the clearest, most complete view of your vision.
A typical eye exam at Vaske Vision Care includes:
- Complete eye health evaluation
- High-tech imaging of the retina
- Eye pressure testing for glaucoma checks
- Accurate prescriptions for glasses and contacts
- Screening for early signs of eye diseases
We don't just focus on whether you need a new prescription. Using advanced technology like Optomap® imaging, we assess your overall eye health in a way that traditional exams simply can't match.
Expect a thorough, efficient process that gives you both peace of mind and a clearer picture of your ocular health.
How Long Will My Eye Exam Take?
We respect your time while making sure you receive thorough, attentive care. At Vaske Vision Care, a comprehensive eye exam usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
We strive to maintain efficiency without sacrificing quality – allowing you to get the answers and care you need without spending your entire afternoon in the office. Of course, if additional testing is needed based on your symptoms or findings, your visit might be slightly longer, but we always let you know upfront.
Will My Eyes Be Dilated?
A common concern patients have before an exam is whether they'll need dilation – and if they'll be able to drive afterward.
At Vaske Vision Care, dilation is not always necessary. Thanks to advanced technology like Optomap® retinal imaging, we can often examine the back of your eye without needing to dilate your pupils.
However, in some cases – depending on what we see during your visit – dilation may still be recommended to get a deeper look at your eye health. If so, we'll discuss this with you ahead of time. Most patients are still comfortable driving after dilation, but if you’d rather play it safe, consider arranging for a ride.
